Charitable Giving Strategies for Donor Engagement and Development

Join us as we review charitable giving strategies for organizations to share with their donors to increase giving and engagement. With the knowledge learned in the session, you will be able to articulate efficient ways for donors to give. Tax-efficient strategies include donor-advised funds, bundling donations, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs), gifting highly appreciated securities, and more. Discussion will also include legacy planning through life insurance and estate planning. Additionally, we'll go over ways to partner with small to medium-sized businesses in meaningful ways, like in-kind donations, collections, service projects, and sponsorships.

Speaker: Heather Deaton, CFP®, CSRIC™

Heather joined Ellenbecker Investment Group in 2016. She works with clients to identify their goals and navigate their financial journey with confidence and conviction. Heather takes a collaborative and educational approach with a bit of humor to help clients feel at ease and comfortable talking about their finances. Heather has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM professional since 2019 and has been a Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC^TM)since 2020. She has a passion for service, sustainability, and relationships and is the President of the Fondy Food Center Board of Directors, bringing healthy food and economic opportunity to Greater Milwaukee through farmers markets, land access, and food security. Heather is a trained Stephen Minister, providing one-on-one comfort and support to people experiencing a life crisis. She was awarded the 2023 Corporate Volunteer of the Year by the Milwaukee BizTimes Media. Heather, her husband Eric Oquist, and their two sons live in Wauwatosa, where they enjoy gardening, hiking, traveling, and playing board games together.
