Collaborative Fundraising: case studies, lessons learned, and exciting possibilities!
About the Event
Join us for a morning exploring collaborative fundraising with the Small Arts and Culture Cohort!
Fundraising for the arts in Wisconsin is especially challenging, as was documented in the Wisconsin Public Policy Forum’s 2024 report. In response, local organizations have created a new collaborative model - and their learning is applicable to organizations of all sizes and sectors. This session will mix engaging stories from SMAC members with interactive activities to help attendees reflect and contribute their own knowledge.
Presenters are members of Small Arts and Culture Cohort, a group of organizations that came together in 2020 and quickly realized that we are stronger together. Collectively, we engage community members in every City of Milwaukee zip code with artistic programs that create community, enhance education, and improve mental health. Individually, we all have budgets under $350,000. In November 2023, we launched a unique fundraising campaign that aligns our fundraising efforts to support all eleven members, and we set an ambitious goal to raise and distribute $825,000 over three years. In the process, we’ve learned a lot about the joys, challenges, and possibilities of collaborative fundraising.
SMAC members include Aperi Animam, CAPITA Productions, DanceCircus, Ex Fabula, Ko-Thi Dance Company, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Pink Umbrella Theater, Quasimondo Physical Theatre, The Constructivists, Walker's Point Center for the Arts, and WoLF Studios MKE.
