Free For(u)m for Fundraisers Farewell

Here's What you missed!

Remember last year when we were all just going to stay close to home and limit contacts for two weeks? If only it had been that simple…

A few months later, our Chapter’s leadership would recognize that an important aspect of networking and professional development that we have grown to appreciate – in person education and other sessions – was likely to be suspended for quite a bit longer than originally anticipated. 
 

Members of the board of directors and committee members set out to develop multiple strategies to engage members and nonmembers alike – often at no cost to participate. One of those evolved into what was a virtual meeting known as “Free For(u)m for Fundraisers” that was hosted monthly by Amy Rowell, president-elect.
 

These sessions covered a variety of topics and, often, included a special guest – a community member with knowledge and experience to serve as a content expert. The topics were:
•    Unconscious Bias in Fundraising
•    Marketing & Communications
•    Empathy, Self-Care, & Fundraising during COVID-19
•    Equity, Inclusion, & Fundraising
•    Building a Racial Justice Action Plan
•    Meet the New Chapter President
•    Setting Personal & Professional Goals
•    Racism in Fundraising
•    Special Events
•    Volunteer Engagement & Returning Volunteers to In-Person Service
•    Corporate Social Responsibility
 

On average, each session engaged 6-8 individuals in a thoughtful conversation that allowed for growth and served as an opportunity to share personal and professional experiences. 
 

After one year as many of us returned to the office, we made the decision to stop the Forum but wish to thank all those who attended one or more and lent your voice to a meaningful discussion and we look forward to resuming in-person sessions as soon as it is safe to do so.
