Job Summary:
The Director of Fund Development provides strategic leadership for Courage MKE’s fundraising efforts. Collaborating closely with the Executive Director, this role plans and manages all development activities, builds relationships with donors and stakeholders, and creates systems to support fund development. This role marks Courage MKE’s first major investment in building and maintaining fund development systems.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Development Leadership:
- Set annual fundraising goals and communication strategies.
- Develop and manage the fund development budget and work plan.
- Lead all fundraising campaigns, events, and donor communications.
- Ensure accurate reporting and manage donor databases.
- Establish fund development policies and oversee reconciliation with financial reports.
- Eventually recruit and manage development staff.
Individual Giving:
- Administer and grow individual giving programs, including annual campaigns and major gifts.
- Cultivate donor relationships and develop donor communication strategies.
- Maintain and expand the donor database.
Grants:
- Collaborate with grant writers to secure and manage government, foundation, and corporate grants.
- Build relationships with grantors.
Special Events:
- Plan and grow fundraising events, sponsorships, and related communications.
- Coordinate efforts of committees, staff, and volunteers.
- Lead event evaluations and reporting.
Communications:
- Oversee print and digital collateral for fundraising.
- Manage website and social media content to engage donors and enhance visibility.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in nonprofit fund development, with leadership experience.
- Strong writing, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Expertise in donor cultivation, stewardship, and database management (BetterUnite a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and communication tools.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Compensation
- Salary: $70k–$85k.
- Benefits: $150/month health stipend, 20 PTO days, and 7 paid holidays.
